Broad Islamic studies

Choose Sanatayn for a two-year foundation

Sanatayn is for sisters who want an ordered route through several Islamic sciences rather than isolated short classes. Both cohorts cover Qurʾān, Arabic, Fiqh, Hadith and the Prophetic biography, with regular study and assessment.

  • Weekend: ages 14+, Saturday and Sunday mornings
  • Weekday: ages 18+, Monday to Wednesday mornings
  • Live online with a certificate on completion

A deliberate learning environment

Why sisters-only is more than a label

A dedicated space can make it easier to ask personal questions, participate in recitation and discuss women’s Fiqh with confidence. Our sisters-only classes are taught by women and designed around privacy, respect and consistent participation.

The courses remain academically structured: clear curricula, live teaching, course materials, assessments where applicable and a Student Portal that keeps learning organised between sessions.

Questions from sisters

Before you choose a course

Which online Islamic courses do you offer for sisters?

For the September 2026 intake, Ocean of Islam offers Sanatayn Weekend for ages 14+ and Sanatayn Weekday for adult sisters aged 18+. The planned Tajweed course has been cancelled.

What is a Sanatayn course?

Sanatayn means “two years”. A Sanatayn course is a structured two-year foundation in Islamic studies. At Ocean of Islam, sisters study Qurʾān and Tajweed, Arabic, Fiqh, Hadith and Seerah, with ʿAqīdah included in the weekday curriculum. Read our complete guide to Sanatayn courses.

Are all teachers on the sisters-only courses female?

Yes. These live classes are taught by qualified female teachers in private, sisters-only learning environments. Each course page explains its teacher, format and safeguarding arrangements.

Are the courses fully online?

Yes. Sessions are taught live online at UK times, with course materials and administration supported through the Ocean of Islam Student Portal. They are live cohorts rather than self-paced video courses.

Which course is best for a beginner?

Both Sanatayn routes begin from clear foundations and provide broad, structured study across several Islamic sciences. The planned focused Tajweed route has been cancelled for this intake.

What are the age requirements?

Sanatayn Weekend welcomes sisters aged 14 and above; Sanatayn Weekday is an adult cohort for sisters aged 18 and above. Students under 18 require parental or guardian consent.

Are lesson recordings shared?

Recordings are not routinely distributed, in keeping with the privacy of students and teachers in a sisters-only environment. Students should plan to attend live and use the course materials and class support to keep up.
