Sanatayn is for sisters who want an ordered route through several Islamic sciences rather than isolated short classes. Both cohorts cover Qurʾān, Arabic, Fiqh, Hadith and the Prophetic biography, with regular study and assessment.
Focused Qurʾān recitation
The Tajweed route is for sisters whose immediate goal is accurate, confident Qurʾān recitation. It builds pronunciation and core rules step by step, with live correction and personal feedback from a qualified female teacher.

A deliberate learning environment
A dedicated space can make it easier to ask personal questions, participate in recitation and discuss women’s Fiqh with confidence. Our sisters-only classes are taught by women and designed around privacy, respect and consistent participation.
The courses remain academically structured: clear curricula, live teaching, course materials, assessments where applicable and a Student Portal that keeps learning organised between sessions.
For the September 2026 intake, Ocean of Islam offers three sisters-only options: Sanatayn Weekend for ages 14+, Sanatayn Weekday for adult sisters aged 18+, and online Tajweed classes for sisters aged 16+.
Sanatayn means “two years”. A Sanatayn course is a structured two-year foundation in Islamic studies. At Ocean of Islam, sisters study Qurʾān and Tajweed, Arabic, Fiqh, Hadith and Seerah, with ʿAqīdah included in the weekday curriculum. Read our complete guide to Sanatayn courses.
Yes. These live classes are taught by qualified female teachers in private, sisters-only learning environments. Each course page explains its teacher, format and safeguarding arrangements.
Yes. Sessions are taught live online at UK times, with course materials and administration supported through the Ocean of Islam Student Portal. They are live cohorts rather than self-paced video courses.
All three routes begin from clear foundations. Choose Sanatayn if you want broad, structured study across several Islamic sciences. Choose Tajweed if your main goal is to improve Qurʾān reading, pronunciation and confidence in recitation.
Sanatayn Weekend welcomes sisters aged 14 and above; Tajweed welcomes sisters aged 16 and above; Sanatayn Weekday is an adult cohort for sisters aged 18 and above. Students under 18 require parental or guardian consent.
Recordings are not routinely distributed, in keeping with the privacy of students and teachers in a sisters-only environment. Students should plan to attend live and use the course materials and class support to keep up.
