Many of us recite the same short sūrahs every day. This class creates the space to pause, understand what Allah is saying, and respond with a more attentive heart.
Starting with Juz ʿAmma, Ustadha Fateha will guide students through clear translation, accessible explanation and thoughtful reflection. The aim is not simply to collect information, but to let the Qurʾān shape our worship, character and closeness to Allah.

Ustadha Fateha is a qualified and experienced teacher who also teaches within Ocean of Islam’s Sanatayn programme. She brings structured explanation, warmth and an understanding of how to make foundational Islamic learning accessible to students at different stages.

There is no fee, but your place still matters. This is a structured weekly class rather than an informal drop-in ḥalaqah. Registration helps us teach well, prepare the right resources and offer each student a consistent learning experience.

Who can join the Tafsir class?
The class is open to sisters of all ages and at every level. Students under 18 must be registered by a parent or guardian.
Do I need to know Arabic or have studied Tafsir before?
No. Ustadha Fateha will make the translation, key meanings and reflections accessible from the foundations. You only need a sincere wish to learn and the ability to attend consistently.
Where does the class take place?
Classes are held live online through Zoom. Registered students will find the joining link and any teaching materials in the Ocean of Islam Student Portal.
Will recordings be available?
No. Recordings will not be shared, in order to preserve the privacy of this sisters-only learning space. Notes and other teaching resources may be added to the Student Portal.
Is the class really free?
Yes. There is no registration fee and no Stripe checkout. We ask students to honour the free place through regular attendance, preparation and commitment.
What happens during institute holidays?
The class follows the Ocean of Islam academic calendar, including half-term, Ramadan, Eid and other published breaks. The current calendar is linked on this page.
